Towerlands, Essex - Dandara

The Towerlands development in Braintree, Essex is Dandara’s flagship site for their new region. This multi-phase development will comprise over 500 units and we are currently delivering the first 168 units and 2,300m of estate road.

Challenge

  • 330 units with 5,000m of estate road constructed over a 156 week programme.
  • The project is multiphase and installation of the central spine road through the site connecting both S278 junctions was critical to provide access to each phase through the site
  • Build programme was deemed critical, the site was one of the first Dandara Eastern sites to commence in the region establishing Dandara in the area
  • The foul water drainage outfall was located over 500m off site

Solution

  • Tamdown worked closely with Dandara on the build programme requirements enabling us to provide the right labour to keep up with the rate of build required
  • The foul water outfall was a significant technical challenge;
    • our team came up with a proposed route and solution for connecting to the outfall
    • closely liaising with the relevant third parties to ensure the vital co-ordination of all those affected by the work
  • Planning and good customer collaboration across all disciplines ensuring a smooth delivery

Outcome

  • The site has progressed at pace, with over 140 foundations carried out since May 2022 and the main spine road link installed
  • The off-site foul water drainage design is in the final stages of permits and approvals and will likely commence in the coming months
  • Next phase is due to come online in June 2024
