Pleased to be back delivering works on site

We are pleased to be back delivering works on site. We are helping our customers to prepare sites for safe operations. Then, when safe to do so, we are beginning to deliver our usual services of Groundworks, Infrastructure and RCFrames.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our people and others on-site remains our top priority. We will only be working on sites where it is safe to do so, following all Government guidance and in line with CLC site operating procedures.

We also have teams working from home coordinating and supporting both our customers and our site teams as we manage this measured step by step return to work.

Our people have been and remain resilient and professional throughout this difficult time and we would like to thank them all.

RoSPA President’s Award – following 11 Years Consecutive Golds

This year we are proud to have achieved another President’s Award in the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, one of the longest-running industry awards schemes in the UK.  This was awarded again following our 11th consecutive Gold award to date.

The award recognises our achievements throughout the year in health and safety management, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Helping our people, customers and the public get home safely at the end of the working day is the Tamdown Way.

PPE provided to front line NHS staff

Last week we emptied our store room to identify PPE that could be provided to front line NHS staff during the current COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.

Bulk quantities of both medical grade gloves and medical wipes were supplied to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford – the local hospital to our Braintree Head Office.

They were very gratefully received and we hope they go some way to protecting our front line NHS staff while they work so hard to help and protect us and our community.

Closure of Tamdown site operations due to Coronavirus COVID-19

The health and safety of our employees, customers and suppliers is our highest priority, which is why earlier this week we took the decision to safely close our site operations by the end of today – Friday 27th March.

Although Government guidance has not explicitly covered this, we feel in this unique situation this is the right and responsible thing to do, and that it is our duty to do this now.

We are focused on protecting the wellbeing of our staff and the communities we operate within and site closures have been carried out over the last few days to ensure our teams safety and that sites are left in the best possible condition during this period.

We will work closely with all of our customers, employees, and supply chain to return to work when it is safe to do so.

Tamdown SEMP Graduations

Tamdown has recently celebrated SEMP Graduations which have seen thirty-three Site Engineers and Managers pass their assessments and receive an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Endorsed Award. The delegates applied themselves throughout this bespoke development opportunity which was created in-house at Tamdown.

The business is excited to see its next group of Site leaders undertake the same this coming year, following the successful launch of the initiative and ILM endorsement.

Throughout the programme, the groups completed modules such as Productivity and Effectiveness, Time Management, Presence and Impact, Crucial Conversations and Situational Leadership.

This is a great example of the support Tamdown offer their people through learning and development and specifically how they are supporting their Site teams and leadership to grow and deliver in their roles.

Success story from our staff Health Screenings

We place the health, safety, and wellbeing of our staff at the core of our business. That is why we have an Occupational Health Specialist, Dave Gruber one of our Project Managers commented on his recent experience:

“I would like to thank Tamdown for their Health Screening service which has proved to be a very important tool to help manage our own Health, we all run around and give no time to ourselves to undertake any type of Health Screening as we are too busy.

Last week it hit home when I attended the screening on site at Hinxhill, the health professional found that my Blood pressure was very high and was sent directly to the Hospital. I have a condition where my body makes a high number of Red Blood Cells called Polycythaemia which is controlled by regular venesection to reduce the red cells, this condition raises my blood pressure.

Thanks to the screening it pointed me in the right direction and I have now been placed on Blood Pressure Tablets as over the years the body changes and I thought it was normal. I am in good health and look forward to many more years of service with Tamdown.”

With 13 Blocks ranging between 8 and 16 stories built in an impressive 20 months it was a proud moment for both teams, well done to everyone involved.
