Tamdown has a long history working on the Beaulieu site going back to 2010 which will see us deliver over 1000 units across eight phases. Most recently we have been delivering Zone Q which sees a 122 units with 550m of estate road constructed within a 140 week programme.
Challenge
- Build location was being utilised as a site car park for all the other phases at the Beaulieu development, so relocating the car park was a critical first step
- Site was previously quarried for sand and gravels and replaced with engineered fill up to 15m deep.
- Whole site needed piled foundations which required an optimum cut & fill and pile mat strategy to be produced
- Working in close proximity to occupied residential properties
Solution
- Planned and co-ordinated approach to phasing the cut and fill – ensuring this was completed first to enable the pile mats to be installed without the need for additional import of material
- Tamdown has completed seven previous phases on the development and have built up a good working relationship with Countryside
- Precise planning and careful delivery to ensure works were carried out with the minimum of desruption and the ensured safety of the local community
Outcome
- Earthworks completed to plan and pile mat strategy provided appropriate and timely access for the piling rig to the first stages of build
- Site is being run well, Tamdown on programme with good quality work being completed
- Safe and quality delivery building and maintaining strong reputations for Countryside and Tamdown
